Default Battery died, did I lose my tune?

Last month, my battery died out on the road. With no other option I had to have it towed and the dealer commented on a few engine codes. They recommended a dyno tune and some sort of programmer. It was retuned last winter with a S/E super pro tuner. It does feel a little different now. Did I lose my tune when the battery took a crap?

Your ecm will not lose it's programmed map (tune) if the battery dies.
They should have used your SEPST to retune your bike, did they?

I don't know for certain, but I would hope you didn't. Lots of folks would be steamed if they lost a $300 tune when the battery died or was just disconnected. Logically, it should be just like the odometer, can't be changed without a computer update of some sort. I will be interested in the real answer when it comes along.

So if I thake my battery out for the winter, will I loose my tune? I do not have power out to the garage so I have always taken the battery out for winter storage on all my bikes. This is the first bike with fuel injection.

The "tune" or map as it is called, is flashed into memory on your ECM.
It will remain there until it is overwritten with a different tune.

That would be a great way for the stealers to get more money though, considering that the second step (after removing the seat) of most items in the service manual is to disconnect the battery.

Not sure how other tuners are set up but my Thundermax tuner came with a decal attached to the frame by the battery stating that ECM fuse must be removed before disconnecting battery or tune map will be lost.
