I am thinking of ordering thier retro kit for my 06 EG Standard. Anyone use this kit with the GT510 radio? I am wondering how they get the handlebar controles to work and just how the whole thing goes together and how it works on the bike. How quick is thier service and are they a good company to do business with?

If you do a search for "Biketronics" you will find a lot of information on the unit and the guy who owns it, Mike--all of it is favorable. He lists his phone number on his website--call him.

His Retro Radio package is intended for use with a variety of head units, including the Sony GT 510--again if you visit his website you will see he is a Sony dealer and includes the 510 in one of his packages.

He can explain how the radio interface works in detail, but basically you plug your bike's audio connector into one side of his interface unit. On the other end of the interface unit are some wires you splice for power, ground, and speakers; also, there is a single plug that goes into the back of the Sony unit. As for the electronic explanation of "how it works" you would have to ask Mike; but it does work and you will have full use of the handlebar controls, including the Automatic Volume Control that adjusts headunit volume based on the speed of the bike.

Take a look at his Retro Radio Package that includes everything:mounting hardware, facia, Sony GT510headunit, Hogtunes speakers, speaker adapters (which you will need to buy from HD if you don't buy this package), and an inside the fairing mounted antenna. The package price is $499 (so you may consider returning the headunit you already have to take advantage of this package). He also offers the gear needed for satellite radio, XM or Sirius, for $99.95. All of this stuff is available seperately. Ipurchased the mounting kit and interface for $200 and didn't buy the package only because I already had speakers, speaker adapaters, and antenna. HTH.

 

I ordered the tailbones converter, from J&P Cycles, made by Biketronics. The verbiage in the J&P catalog was a bit misleading (they had left a few words out by accident). I interpreted the add to mean I didn't need to also order a load equalizer. I ended up calling Biketronics to see what else I needed to order. The tech told me how to work around it. He was very helpful and everything worked fine after his instructions.
