Default Bar Suggestions.. help!

ok, I know there are a million bar threads and Ive read them all... Here are my prefferences and you guys tell me what you think. I just got an 02 road king.. Just put a Mustang wide touring seat with backrest and so far, I like it, now time for bars cause the stock ones suuuuck.

Im thinking of apes, black.. But I dont know what size first off.. I was thiking 12's or 14's . Im 6'2" , but I dont want my hands above my shoulders. The stock bars have me reaching foward and down, so something that comes back a little more so i dont have to reach foward.

Also, what kind of wiring kit do I need and do I need bushings or anything else? what size to fit on stock risers? or should I get new risers? What brands do you suggest?.. Im having such a hard time narrowing it down. I like the carlini gangsta apes or flying apes (whare the difference between those two?) Roland Sands has some cool bars too... Do Z bars look ok on a king? Ok guys, help please

With your height I would lean more to 16" or higher. I'm 5'11" and running 16" Carlini Gangster apes and they are below my shoulders!

I'm 6'4'' and my 18's have my hands just above my shoulders, Its a good idea to change the riser bushings to poly and get a one piece top clamp, if you use 1-1/4 stepped bars your stock risers will work.

for those with ganster apes, hows the comfort on long rides? are the width from hand to hand much narrower than stock?

I just spoke to someone at Carlini, he was pretty helpful.. Im thinking about black, 16" gangster apes from them now... but its pricey and there are so many to choose from, so any advice would help... Come on guys, any suggestions? Pics would be nice.... is there a benifit or disadvantage to getting different risers or using the stock? or is it simply just prefference? sorry for all the questions.. I didnt do any of this stuff to my sportster, so im new to customizing.. lol

I'm 5-8" and running 14's and the bars are shoulder height. Remember you have to allow for the slouch factor when you relax and cruise along.....at 6-2" you should be good to go for 16s or 18s before your going to be over your shoulders. Def want to do the poly bushings or at that height your bars will shake like a *****.

I am also running a Mustang Day Tripper solo seat which sits me a little lower. I normally have a decent sig picture if I am on the forum with my computer. But I'm on here now using my iPod today so when I post it doesn't show my sig picture, sorry.

My 16" Gangsters are Extremly comfortable. I don't think they are more narrower than the stock, I think they are wider?

Carlini offer "blemished" to save you a few bucks, I would go that route. Their quality control is so high, you can't find the blemish and well worth the savings. If your bike has a one piece riser you are good to go! If not, defiantly get a one piece riser.
