Default New FLHTCU

Hi;

First post. Glad I found this forum.

Just picked up a new 07 FLHTCU. Weather has been rain, rain, rain, so I've not had a chance to ride it much yet. Looking it over in my garage I noticed quite a bit of surface rust present just inside the exhuast tips. I was wondering if this was common for a brand-new bike.

I've owned a Road King which I also bought new but I can't remember if it had the same problem.

Yup, the rust is common on the inside of the exhaust tips. I took somehi-temp black paint and fixed it right up. I cut the top of a plastic cup that was the exact diameter of the exhaust end, slid this into a piece of cardboard(approx. 24"x24")and slid the cut plastic cup into the tail pipes extreme outer edge...!!!whalla!!!! no oversprayto the bike.

Enjoy! and I knowwhat you mean about rain........I selling mine and gonna build an ark.

Welcome! I'm fairly new around this forum also. These people have helped me a bunch! Enjoy your new ultra! I just did upgrades to mine but have been unable to take it for a ride due to weather conditions.

Rust is common on the inside of the exhaust tips. I used S100 Motorcycle Polishing Soap and it cleared it right up.

Welcome to HDF...throw a leg over, sit back, and hold on tight as this is a great site with tons of helpful information and great people.

Ride safe,

Welcome, Taildragga, and congrats on your new ride. I'm jealous here! I also feel your pain about the weather -- snowed in here in KC. Enjoy the forum; lots of good info and helpful folks here.

Mine's black. A few of my friends told me they love black but its hard to keepclean. I knew this but I just love the looks of black with lots of chrome! I didn't mention it in my original post but I've also got a black 69 FLH which I've had since 1981, so I'm very familiar with a wash bucket and rags.

Well, basedon the responses to my first post I'll just say "I think I found a home!" Thanks for the warm welcome.
