Default Update on 2013 Street Glide

Well, I picked her up Tuesday, after spending all day long at the dealer - overall a good experience. I would return to and recommend Bakersfield Harley. They seem to be good folks there.

Anywho, I've put about 250 miles on the clock, a mix of highway, around town, and mountains. It really surprised me how good it handles the mountain curves - just leans right into them almost as easy as the Sportster! Getting used to the weight and handling in slow speed maneuvering, like parking lots has been quicker than I expected. But when running down the road, she rides like she's on rails - just smooth as can be.

Although I've been riding pretty conservatively during break-in, but even so, she is fast. I've gotta keep a close eye on my highway speed, once she's put in 6th gear, she just naturally wants to pull up to 85+.

I've got a lot more accessories on order - detachable tour-pak, backrest, seat, etc. Waiting until I hit 500 miles to have pipes done at service dept's recommendation. But those MUST be done that would be my only complaint - too quiet!! I'm thinking of going with the MGS true duals stage 1 package.

Here's a photo while at the dealer:

I might demo a couple different windscreens to see the differences with height and design. But other than that and the stage 1, there's nothing that needs changed. I love this bike. Worth every penny!

yeah, you look plenty happy.

muffler- look at the S/E nightsticks and fatshots ( or read the threads on them) made by supertrapp, they use an adjustable disc system- can be loud or quiet.

That's pretty funny, I have owned a lot of bikes and I would say my new Road King is anything but fast. A capable cruiser, yes, but not fast. Keep that bike out of 6th gear for a while and keep the revs up. Congrats on the new ride. Enjoy it.

I didnt think you were suppose to go into 6th during break in?
From what I remember from selling them and when I bought my 04 brand new I thought between rpms and overdrive you really shouldnt be on the highway for a while, 500 miles? 1000 ? I cant remember, I am sure you have the break ins in your book.
Guys would come in and say they were planning a long trip, so they wanted to pick up their bikes and leave that week, and we would have to remind them, you really need to follow the beak in points before you just go blasting down the freeway.
