Default Face shields

Hey all.

I'm looking at getting a face shield to snap onto a open faced helmet. And I've heard from people that they "blow off" if you turn your head to check a blindspot or something.

The reason I post this here on the touring forum, is because I'm curious if anyone has like a bell 3-snap face shield with a fairing and has any problems with them? I wouldn't think there would be trouble, but I don't want to waste the money if they create buffetting or just vibrate the whole time.

Any reviews would be good.

Thanks all.

I'm curious about your question too, so we'll see what comes back from those who know. One option is the HJC FS-3 helmet (its discontined but there seems to be a ton of them out there); you can find them on Ebay and Competition Accessories for about $50-$70 depending on the month/color/size and they come with a clear shield and a sun visor if you'd rather go open face. A smoke shield is available for $20. I have a couple of these and the fit is great and it gives me all options in a DOT and Snell approved 3/4

I have a HJC 3/4 helmet, never have that problem combined with my shorter 8" windshield. Also, I took a sabre saw and cut my helmet shield shorter, worked out nice

There are multiple snap ons out there in different styles. The ones to get have a tension screw on the pivot points so it can be tightened up as needed. Or the ones with slider notches at the hinges that click up/down one position at a time

I have a HJC 3/4 style with a flip down visor w/ the clicker style hinges & it has never blow up while riding.

You will only know if you try one. But I can say I've never had that problem in 50 years of riding with several types of shields and bikes.

I bought one of these off Ebay. It does help bu nowhere close to wearing a full face helmet. I usually use my Panoptixs with a 3/4 Shoei. But I throw this in to my saddle bag incase of heavy rain. It's cheap enough.

Try www.Jafrum.com. They have some for about $12 so if you don't like it you can throw it away.

I've got the Bell shield on my Bell Custom 500 and it's NEVER blown off when I'm riding and have turned my head. I turn my head all of the time at speed to check over my shoulder before changing lanes, etc.
