Default Seat fit question 2008 vs 2010

I found a seat from a 2008 Ultra that I am curious will fit a 2010. I am of the understanding that the new frame came out in 2009. Most seats fit either up to 2007 and then from 2009 on is a different part number due to the frame redesign.
Will the 2008 model year design seat only fit the 2008? Or 2008 thru current?

I just gave a 2012 Ultra seat to a friend to go on his 2008 RoadKing. It fit fine. Harley parts catalog specifies that most of the seats are for 2008 and later bikes.

Sounds like a marketing ploy by HD...

If the rear bolt mount & front slot mount are in same location(s) it should fit. Might need a few measurements to check...

2008 thru current, it's the gas tank change that is different.
I've used a 2008 seat on a 2009 and a 2012.

Some will fit and some don't. The contour of the frame rails changed and some 2008 seats won't fit on the newer bikes.

Can anyone else confirm this? From the responses here it seems all should work from 2008 to current.

When they came out with the new "low" seat for the Ultra in, I believe, 2010 I tried to put one on my '08 and it would not fit. Perhaps I could have forced it, but it would not go down in back far enough to get the rear screw in.
