Default Hot/Switched Wires in Nacelle

I'm installing a RoadTech radio on my 2007 RK and was wondering if there is an "always hot" wire somewhere in the nacelle? There's an unused orange/white switched wire which I need, but the installation requires a always hot wire as well. I'm not sure of the amperage draw, saw I don't know if any old hot wire will work. Should I just chase a hot wire from the battery?

They are probably referring to the always hot wire that lets your radio keep the clock time right. Not much current needed for that. Your existing/old radio should have that already.

No existing/old radio on a Road King.

Default There are no 'always hot' wires in nacelle

All the 'hot' leads in the nacelle are controlled from the ignition switch (just like the accessories) You'll need to run a lead from either the fuse box or from the battery direct.

Check the individual wires with a test light while the ignition is off. if the test light lights you have found a hot wire

Run one, then you know you're not inviting issues. JMO

Thanks for the advise. I think I'll run a wire from the battery for the reason Glockmeister noted. I also found some links that people have installed wiring to the head by running the wires under the speedo console. I'm going to do a mock up first before committing as the wires may have a tendency to rub against the tank. Also need to run the antenna wire through there as well. If it doesn't work out cleanly, then it looks like I'll need to pull the tank and run it along the main wiring harness.
