Default Replacing Leather Bags with Hard Bags

I bought a set of HD hard bags off of eBay today to replace the leather bags on my '07 Road King Classic. My best estimate is that they will directly replace the leather bags, and that I will not need to purchase additional/different mounting hardware. Is that right? I examined and compared the Road King and Road King Classic at my local dealer, and it looks like the mounting hardware is identical.

Anybody have some experience with this?

i know a guy that bought hard bags on ebay from an electraglide and changed out his softs on a heritage classic with only buying the electraglide bracket. The color doesnt match and they odd - but he is going to have the one year old bike painted yellow and the bags at the same time.

not sure that helps, but its another soft to hard without any complications .

I did the same thing only adjustment i had to do was were the dzus buttons went through i had to align them up just a little bit...in other words the twist thingy and the keeper plate had to be aligned a tad but not much yours may not even need it.

Like he said to get the fit. BUT I went the other way from the hard bags to the leather ones... Let me give you the shipping address where you can ship those leathers to me.

Hey John.....

I did the same exact thing with my '05 and it all worked out great. I can say for a fact I have never put the leather ones back on since installing the hardbags. I am always carrying something in there and the hard bags allow me to lock them. I bought mine from a member here on the forums. Originally they were a maroon so I painted them black using the DuPont SuperJet Black I had mentioned in your post regarding the fairings.

That's my bagger in these two pics. You can get a general idea how I did the gauges in the removable fairing.

Brian

I had my local dealer check for me, since I'm getting a 07 SERK, and want to save the leather bags for weekends and have Hard ones for daily use. He told me that the Standard RK bags match right up to my bike, though the color will be off.Which, will probably be painted to match as some point.

I am adding RK Custom bags to my '04 EG and checked the Touring parts book to see if the mounting brackets, etc. are the same or different for Touring hard and soft bags--they are all the same.
