I can relate. I did an 18 month project in Houston, riding back and forth from Dallas most every week. Between 289 miles each way and my weekly meal per diem, I banked over $18k above my salary. It was enough to trade in my '06 Wide Glide and pay cash for Hester.
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but Thanks again, Shrug for Your DVD!
I've got some training that I have to go to in April - hoping to take the bike instead of flying. Also, may take some training in Milwaukee in June - ride the bike, get paid for mileage, go see the HD museum - oh, and hubby will go and go for day trips while I'm in training both times.
I travel for work full time(construction super) and live in my trailer in the parking lot of the job. It basically sucks... but putting the $150 a day (lodging per-diem) in my pocket seriously upgrades my income (and it's tax free!).
