Is this a new bike?
A quart low just before your 5,000 mile service is just fine.
A quart low 700 miles before your first 1000 mile service ......not so much

Thought so..

If you're running a 5,000 mile service interval, no worries there.

Some guys burn that much every 1,000 and HD says that's "normal."

Mine's at 123,000 and uses less than 1/2 a quart before I change it.

Both our bikes are just fine, I'm sure.

Some 05's had a problem with valve seals causing oil usage.Have you noticed oil usage before?

Lot's of threads here if you do a search.

I had an 05 RK Custom that had the same problem, and no, there's no warranty coverage for a bike that far out. The problem was the valve seals. It was a fairly inexpensive fix doing it myself, but time consuming. After replacing the valve seals, never had another problem with oil consumption.
