Default Help Mounting Kuryakyn License Plate Holder

I picked up the curved license plated holder for my SG today. What a sweet part. Now the problem. How I am suppose to get my big fat had up in there to mount this thing. Any hints ... I'm about ready to pull the rest of my gray hair out. Is there a way short of pulling the back tire? I sure hope so ..... HELP !!!!!

Have your kids do it or someone with a small arm and hand.

Someone on here said that you can take the rear tail light off and put your hand in from there to get the 2 bolts off. Said it took 20 minutes or less to do the install

Jacking the bike up and letting the rear wheel hang down as far as it will really helps give you some more room for your hand.

Remove the tail light housing and then you can reach through the fender to remove the light bar.Very easy.

Hey Canedog,

I had the same problem when I installed mine. Jeepster09 has the right idea. I jacked my '06 Street Glide up high enough to get my hand in from the bottom of the fender under the LED module. It was still tight but I was able to get it done. Give it a try.

As above, remove the tail light assembly. Makes the nuts easy to remove & reinstall.

GOOD LUCK! I did mine by lifting the rear tire off the ground and without removing the taillight. Very tedious with 1/4" ratchet and open/boxed end wrenches but it got done. Removing the taillight could help and I hope it does if you go that way.

Question. Will this license plate frame fit my 07 FLHRS? I am thinking if I can just replace my tail light lens with a Street Glide one and then just bolt on the curved lic. frame also, not concerned I won't have a lighted plate.

Definetly go through the tail light. It is much easier that going up from the bottom. I speak from experience.
