1.)Are you lowering for looks ?
2.) or because your short ?

If its (2.) there are better solutions to try first like taller boots .

YOU can also send your seat to MeanCity to have it lowered and narrowed .

They do good work I added memory foam also.

I have Bitchin Bagger drop shocks they are stock air shocks cut down 2"
they have a stop no danger of bottoming out on the wiring

I used the 1 inch lowering kit by Burly and really had no complaints for almost 24,000 miles. I recently removed the kit because I noticed when I was changing out strut covers that one of my shocks had slightly rubbed one of my stock strut covers. It wasn't a bad rub but it was caused because of the change in shock angle. Other than this slight contact point that was caused by the lowering kit I had no other negative experience.I seem to be Ok now without the lowering kit and just using a C & C solo seat. When I have the funds I may at some point change out the stock shocks.

I just installed these DK's on my 2013 Street Glide yesterday. Here are my thoughts on them:

The Good:
- Nice looking product which is made a lot stronger than the flat one pictured with several holes in it. Note it is not adjustable, just one position.
- Very easy to install. Took about 20 mins total for both sides
- Very good pictures in the instructions - color, good definition. Although like any man, I didn't really use the instructions.
- Works like a charm! I love the way the bike sits now and the bike now feels like it corners better
- Arrived quickly through USPS
- Great e-mail communication as to the status of my order

Could Use Some Improvements:
- The blocks are annodized flat black. Would match the frame better if it were powdercoated gloss black. They offer a chrome version, but nothing in that area is chrome to match as the shocks and frame are gloss black. Perhaps there is a logical engineering reason why these aren't powdercoated gloss black so everything matches. My hard saddle bags are covering it, so not as big of a deal, but would be nice if it all matched in gloss black.
- I didn't like the bolts that were provided even though they claim they are Grade 9. They are a metric Allen bolt head. They provide 4 which replaces the hex head grade 8 bolts that are on the bottom of the shock tower. So you end up with a durable looking hex head on the top of the shock and 2 not so durable looking Allens heads on the bottom. Once you find a metric allen wrench to fit the bolt, you can never tighten it as much as you probably could with a hex head. If they must be allen head (not sure why), then a common size that matches other HD allens would be great so my HD tool kit fits it, and give me one for the top of the shock too so it all matches.
- No lock washers are provided. In fact, nothing is provided to help secure the 4 new bolts (lock washers, loctite, nylon threads, etc). I re-used one of the lock washers on each side that HD has provided stock and put blue loctite on all the threads.
- It was a little tricky figuring out which side each block goes and in what position. Although the instructions had nice pics, we still couldn't figure out from the pics how blocks go and which was left and which was right. We figured it out like a puzzle.

Overall, nicely made lowering block at a reasonable price, shipped quickly.

I purchased a set from Dakota-Shield and a friend gave me a set with 3 holes, I just couldn't bring myself to install them. With a RK classic, the bags would need modified (with a heat gun), reaiming headlight, checking drivebelt tension, ect just seemed like too much work for something I dont have 100% confidence in. Just my .02 cents.

Especially considering companies like Bitchin Baggers will rework your shocks to retain everything stock except the height.

I guess I should post them on the classified section of the forum as I am never going to use them.

I realize many folks have been using lowering blocks for many years problem free, but I have seen pics of failures of a couple different styles. That was enough for me to form a doubt in my mind and being an obsessive compulsive **** retentive aircraft mechanic/inspector that was a deal breaker.

Forgive the rant...

Rich

My brother is too, for Alaska Airlines, and he has them on his Electra Glide Classic and helped me install my DK ones yesterday. He wasn't diggin' the allen head and no lock washer deal.

Hope you used Loc-tite.

Just to be clear, Im not bashing the product or users of them. It was just one of those things I personally couldnt do, especially as the mother of our 2 children will very very rarely let me ride solo. HA HA HA...

Alters shock angle which increase leverage at swingarm.
Might be best just to purchase lower shocks.
Remember lowering the seat also changes your windshield view, handlebar height.

Yes we used blue loctite. My wife won't get on the back of my bike, not sure who has it worse between you and I. Sometimes I would like to experience things together. Of course if we were both in an accident that wouldn't be a good thing.

I totally get your reservations. I can't say I'm 100% confident I won't have issues either, but I definitely like the results. Being flat footed is a great thing!
