If ya are happy with how it runs and it doesn't knock, ping or pop with the download, good on ya. But, if ya really want it to run properly ya need a flash tuner and proper tune.

I got my original map from FuelMoto with the PCV for a stock air cleaner with jackpot slip's. After putting on an open breather and went to Fatshotz I asked for a map for that particular change and then compared it to the original one they sent me...exact same map to the letter, nothing different whatsoever.....If I use that as guide then I would say NO, but I do find it hard to believe nothing on a map with hundreds of ignition and fuel tables changed going from a stock breather to a stage 1 breather? So either there's no difference going to a stage 1 breather or they are so used to handing out the same map to everyone.... I cant help wondering though if I did myself a disservice by not getting a proper tune even if it runs just fine....

Save some money and get a decent head pipe (but not necessary), get a real tune. That is the way to go.

Since the stage 1 ECM flash isn't dependent on rather you have opened up the breather or changed pipes. All it is, is a very generic map that the dealer puts in. So, in answer to your question, no, if you de-cat the header, or change out headers and exhaust, you already have the ECM flashed. The next step is to TUNE the thing, adding either a SERT or Powervision or whatever else you decide at that time, and turn it over to someone with a dyno that knows what they are doing!!! A stock stage 1 flash is 90% under the BEST of circumstances, and any map that wasn't done on site with your bike is not going to be more than 95% accurate. So spend the money, get a tuner that changes the ECM, not just tricks it into doing what the box wants, and let someone who knows what they are doing tune it. You'll be glad you did!

As long as you haven't eliminated the 02 sensors. The ECM will take the readings during closed loop operation and adjust the AFR to 14.6 to 1. That would be true for changing the cat, mufflers and breather. That is what the 02 sensors and ECM do to keep the bike EPA compliant.

After the changes the ECM will learn what it needs to do during the first ride.

Oh if only that was true... HD FI is nowhere near that smart.

There are a lot of riders on the forums that have a complete stage 1 and the HD download and are perfectly happy with how their bike runs and there are also alot of riders out there that say the HD download only raises the rev limiter and is still EPA compliant. Your bike has the stage 1 complete and the HD download, it will run fine just the way it is. You can make all the header, exhaust changes you want and it should still be good to go as long as you do not add cams. If you decide to go to a stage 2, you will need to have it properly tuned. As others have mentioned, as your bike sits now, it would run better with a good tune but its your choice, you have already done the download it needs. Just my .02. Good luck with your bike, stay safe bro.

No it won't. The ECM can only adjust the VEs 5% via the AFVs, and it can't do diddly with timing advance.
