I'm putting money on the cap not being on correctly. Simple human error during setup. But in the mean time let's everyone PANIC and declare it a **** design/concept.
BTW, have 1650 miles on mine, went out to the garage this morning and lo and behold..................everything is fine. Then again, I have EXCELLENT mechanics at my dealership who probably actually did the set up correctly.

Sorry to hear about your new ride. Had a new Vulcan 900 spray coolant all over my engine on a road trip 300 miles from home. The fix was uner warranty. They said it was a warped thermostat that probably came from factory. Bike was in the shop for over a week. The bike ran fine afterward but I sure smelled that coolant all the time. Even after washing bike multiple times. Traded up for a street glide after two years. Good luck. I'm sure your dealer will make it right.

On the other hand a brilliant marketing strategy of Harley Stop Leak $24.95 a tube. Safe to say that a 3rd world country got the contract.

I had purchased a new 1998 Goldwing. Drove it home and took me one hour. All the way home I could smell coolant. When I pulled in the garage and got off I saw coolant sprayed all over coming from all over. It had bolwn out everything and I filled it back up and ran it for 13 years with out spilling another drop. Figured they over filled it or didn't get the air out the system when they preped it. Changed coolant several times and never had problems. It just may have not been prepped correctly like my experience.

My money is on the pump, shut the bike down, residual heat in the heads heats up the coolant and the pump seal fails. The first place problems generally occur is where there are moving parts.
On another note I heard the gearhead MOCO engineers that came up with this design are now refered to as "Waterheads"

I've had water cooled bikes for decades with not a single coolant problem. Why is Harley behind time with technology that has been around as long as I can remember? The same song and dance over their 'new' linked brake system. As much as I wouldn't want to see that fail, one can only wonder what issues are in store for that feature. To the OP,I'm sorry you had to be the first few to find out the hard way and surely hope it's a tiny problem but I'd be pissed big time if that happens to me.

He said ****...huh huh huh
2 clicks? Are you sure? I heard it was 3 clicks, right foot in, turn yourself around, and 2 more clicks with your left hand.
