Aren't these bikes mainly "recreational" for most of us? Yeah, they are outrageously expensive, but that's what you chose to spend. Expecting a ton of free stuff, bike payments, loaner bike or disabling another bike that is a hot item right now probably is not going to happen for a part that is back-ordered a few weeks. Some of you have expectations of grandeur.
If things aren't done that way, I'll stick to buying used bikes. My bike, that I bought when it was 8 years old, has fired up everytime, 23k miles in 2 and a half seasons.

if it was anything other than a vehicle most people would be demanding that the get a new replacement item , not a repair . so i think expecting them to either get the part expedited from HD or to steal one off another bike to be reasonable .
having been a customer service rep i know that keeping a customer happy is much better for your business than pissing him off ,even if it means you have to wait a few weeks to sell the donor product .

I have purchased many vehicles. Never had one disabled at 70 miles. I would not be patient. I would at least want a loaner until new bike was fixed. I would be polite at first, but if dealer takes care of ******** first, I can assume that role quickly.
Good luck, OP. Let us know what happens.
