Default Helmets: Flat Black or Gloss Black?

I have decided to replace my current helmet with a Vega XTS Naked model.

I have always had Gloss Black helmets in the past, but I was thinking about going with a Flat Black finish this time around.

Here's the difference:

Are there any advantages of one over the other (aside from the fact that the Gloss Black is $3 more)? It seems that the Flat Black finish is more popular. Why?

Thanks for your insights, guys.

A matter of personal taste. I like the flat black also have a leather covered half helmet that I wear most of the time.

Flat black is easy to care for. Soap and water, no polishing

The glossy finish will cut down on wind resistance, which means you can go faster, and get better gas mileage.

If you get a matte helmet and you have glossy paint, your warranty will be voided

No polishing?... That seems to imply other helmets require it.... I certainly have never cleaned - let alone polished any helmet I've ever owned. This just comes down to what looks better to the OP.

I think it's Bush's fault and the question is racist. Djamann - you Polish your helmet??

beats the hell outta me why anyone would ask a question like this. Buy what YOU like. Flat or shiny, it's still a helmet. Hell, buy both. Wear what suits you.

I swear, people on this forum asked the damnedest questions sometimes. I just know if I search hard enough, (which I dare not), I'll find a "do these assless chaps make my *** look fat" post.

Now I'll get off my soapbox and get my meds, which my lovely wife says I'm passed due for.
