Question Swap 2014 Ultra Front onto 2014 Street Glide

Anyone any thoughts on what the outcome would be of putting the smaller 2014 Ultra front wheel onto a 2014 Street Glide ?????
Are there practical difficulties ?
How does the handling change ??
Thanks guys

All the 16", 17" and 18" front wheels used by Harley have tyres with virtually identical rolling diameters. They are also all 130mm wide, so I don't think you'll find any significant difference in handling. Owners of older bikes have been retrofitting the later larger diameter wheels and seem happy.

I went the other way. I personally like the 18 better than the 17 but the rolling diameter is almost the same.

Wish we were not in different countries. I would swap ya wheels in a heartbeat. (Planning on SG wheels on my Limited)

Having said that, I swapped the 17" front on my 09 SG to a 18" version that came the year after. Never noticed any difference. Granted, the 14 is a 19" wheel.

The 17=80
The 18=70
The 19=60
The o.d. Is almost the same but the side wall just keeps getting shorter, which will make for a stiffer feel.

Add to that the earlier 16=90 and the story is complete! I didn't realise the latest bikes had a 19", which seems a mite too large for my taste.

Thanks guys.................I was not aware that was how HD was able to offer so many different wheels/tyres for the same model.............but it makes perfect sense......aand a less stiff ride is always a bonus.
Hey flyingace...just pop over to Bonnie Scotland and the trade is done lol

It's more a case that Harley has used a series of increasingly larger front wheels over the last few years (starting with the SG IIRC), which magically all have similar tyre diameter and profile. It is our 'duty' as owners to prove that older or newer stuff can be fitted to whatever our current model is! As a sweeping generalisation any wheel for the current touring bike range can be fitted to any of the others in that range.

I would LOVE to come to your Country one day! Its actually on my bucket list of places I would like to see. Wish I could do it sooner rather than later.

I went the other way, the 19 definitely has a quicker response and a lighter feel. Easier to balance coming to a stop and go situation. Besides the cheap price (ebay)I also like that it is a 19 inch and not a 21 inch just to have a little more rubber up there for the long touring rides. Also the two tone wheel complements the two-tone paint on my Electra Glide ultra limited.
