I haven't had any flash done as of yet. Bike is going to dealer next week so I will see if they recomend doing it or not. I'm not sure if makes a difference with a 2 speaker set up.

1. Does the JMAA01800HC14 require the internal amp be disabled on the 6.5?
2. Does your amp act like a piggyback boosting the existing radio output from the internal amp?
3. Does this amp have true high, mid and low control in regard to the Infotainment radio controls?
Hopefully John will reply to this and share some insight..

You definitely want to have the flash done, it makes a world of difference making your new system crisper sounding and getting rid of the unnecessary base at low volume. There are many of us who have installed different systems and will agree the flash is needed even with a 2 speaker system.
What the flash does is remove the DSP settings that H.D. programmed into that radio to make the stock (crappy) speakers sound good. If you don't remove that DSP set-up, you're essentially amplifying it and now sending it to good speakers..

Gliding Joe ,,,,,,,

1 ,,,, NONE of the J&M amplifiers require the internal amps of the Harley radios to be bypassed or altered ,,,,,,,

2 ,,,,,, yes ,,, our amp and special isolated RCA input harnesses just take the signal right from the Harley radio's speaker leads, and boosts it to either 90w RMS or 125w RMS per channel ,,,,,

3 ,,,,,,,, not a lot of control on the amp itself for low/mid/high, but that is normally handled by the radio anyway ,,,,,,,

but DO NOT have your Harley dealer flash your radio for an amp, as all your bass frequencies will be gone ,,,,,,,,,

below is a photo of my new 500w 6-speaker streetglide ,,,,,,

Bike is at the dealer now. I told them what I wanted done but i'm not sure they understand what I am talking about. They keep referring to the recent firmware upgrade. I will call them tomorrow to tell them I wan't the DSP shut off. I think that will get rid of the hissing I hear in the background and at low volumes. I am correct in saying the amplifier is amplifying the already amplified signal from the factory HU? It basically sounds like the gains are set too high while they are actually set at the lowest setting.

Tell them you want the BCM flashed for an Amp Install. The same they would do if installing a Boom AMP and Speaker Upgrade system.
The Amplifier is amplify the settings that the HU has programmed to make the cheap speakers sound good.

Do not use a Hogtunes analog amp, if you do no internal antennae will work. I've been through that already.

I got the Boom "Upgrade kit" Boom speakers and amp. Amp is installed under the tour pak which is ok by me as who needs more weight up in the fairing. The upgrade made a significant improvement over the stock setup. I didn't consider other options as I got the whole Boom system Free with my dealer loyalty points. Had to pay for installation though.
