Default New bike battery toast or not

Long story
But bike delivered with very dead battery. Temps outdoors less than 10.
Bike wouldn't recognize fob it was so dead.
Hooked up battery tender jr and after 3 hours fob was found and dash lights on.
But bike wouldn't even turn over once.
So hooked up car battery charger for 5 hrs at 2 amps.
Measured 12.3 across batt terminals.
Anther day fully charged.
Now jr will keep it up and bike starts.
The question is? is the battery hurt from this at its young age?
Will service length be reduced with this treatment?
Should I get dealer to replace ?
That's where I'm at.

So this is a brand new Scoot, did the dealer leave the ignition on? Ran it down? I'd let them know, and document it with a visit, or have them pick it up. You got two years to play with the battery, but you'll know in a few days how it charges....

I think you will be OK. If it takes a charge and holds it 1-2days, it should be fine if kept on tender. You still have warranty so ride this summer and see what happens. Batteries don't last a real long time any way, 2-5yrs usually.
Good Luck

Have them run a load test on the battery.

once discharged, a battery looses about 40% of it's previous capacity.

if someone else is responsible for dead battery ( like the alarm was going the whole time it was being shipped..lights left on etc.) then they should be responsible for the fix.

At 10 degrees, I'd be concerned about internal damage from frozen electrolyte.

I use a car charger once a week while in storage. Except it's one of the new digital ones. If one of the connectors falls off it immeadatly shuts down. Has many charging rates with digital display. Gives percentage of charge. Shuts down when complete. Maybe spent $100.00. A little off topic, anyways your probably fine.

If it's a brand new bike, I would make them replace it under warranty. Why take a chance of getting stranded after a gas stop.

I would have made them get you a new one before you tinkered with it, being brand new.

Not that big a deal, it's only a battery and it's under warranty. Visit your dealer, have a cup of coffee and let them deal with it.
