Default slipon help

just installed a set of rush 3.5 slipons with a 2" baffle on a flhr. spoke with rush they recommend the 2.50" baffle for more sound and less heat. problem is no rumble from these....good at idle but when riding just a deep bass like humming sound. had rush on a fxdc and really liked them real loud and raspy also deep, but not like this. cant stand it. I know a lot of guys like this really deep throaty sound but this sounds like a car not a twin cam. rush did recommend also the big louie with 3" baffle. if I step this 3.5" muffler up to the 2.50" baffle and pull some of the packing off it will that help this sound out????
any help would be great!

Give it a few thousand miles, and the packing will burn off on its own. I've always gone with the 2.5 baffle, and they get louder with time. 2.5 baffle is definitely louder than 2.0.

Welcome to the site Snuffy. Stock head pipes will quiet the mufflers down quite a bit. True dual head pipes are much louder.

Or de-cat the stock headpipe. Also, get someone you trust to ride your bike while you listen to it as a bystander. You'll be surprised how different it sounds, and how good it may sound.

Raspy and deep are two different things.

I had 3.5" Rush with 2.0 baffles in them on true duals, loved the sound.

I now have 4" Rush Big Louies with 2.0's in them, and I love them. I had 2.5s, just too raspy, not enough rumble for me.

If you don't want to wait for them to burn out you can always order a set of larger baffles and just swap them out. 5 min job to swap. I ordered a set one time that came with the wrong size in them, so I called them and they sent me the correct size and I changed them in just a couple minutes.
