Default Pulled the trigger...

On a whole new tank of fuel yesterday.

Went with the 93 octane, since 91 was unavailable.

What problems do you think I should watch out for?

Absolutely none. Lower than recommended octane can cause engine ping and possible damage. Higher octane only hurts your wallet.

None .... a fuel's octane number is only a measurement of its anti-knock capability based on its combination of different octane additives in the fuel. The octane itself is not a power adder. It only allows an engine to run higher compression and more aggressive timing before knocking to increase power.

To be precise, higher octane fuel burns at lower velocity, if your engine is real old with low compression ratio and you use high octane fuel you can damage your valves and it won't be too efficient, either.

Really?

I thought folks around here would see my humor.

Reckon not.

Higher octane fuels can withstand higher pressures before spontaneous combustion occurs due to the higher strength of the isooctane chains in the fuel. Premature spontaneous combustion in a 4 stroke engine is known as "knock".

I understand this.

My op was tongue-in-cheek....

... LOL.

It is really hard to get humor across in any forum or written communication ... humor kind of needs to be heard or seen.

Oh well, thanks for trying.
