Default 2014 Road-King stock mufflers

Just picked up Road King - traded in 2006 Heritage Classic. My 2006 had Vance & Hines long shots and 2006's had no cats or O2 bungs like they started in 2007. Harley had to add air and noise Pollution in 2007. The only negative I have with the 2014 is it's too quiet for me... don't want it too loud get a little more growl. The after market slip-ons are very expensive also. Looking in the end of the muffler it closed up about 4 inches in and has hole on the sides. I was wonder if anyone has drilled a hole into there and if the sound was better or worse.

Most people who have removed the catalytic converter from the head pipe have reported a more pleasing sound with stock mufflers. I cut the plugs out of my 08 mufflers and they make more of a crack, especially under load, than a pleasing rumble. There are many threads on removing the cat or buying and installing a cat-less head pipe. Can't guaranty on a '14, but historically the cat has been just forward of the bend where the pipes split and the left pipe runs under the frame.
