Default Loud horns meaningfully useful?

My stock horn is dying, although I don't use it often. I'm wondering if louder horns are useful. Should I take this opportunity to get a louder horn?

Whatever I get, it won't be any bigger than stock.

Default Horn

My horn bit the dust a few weeks ago. After a couple close encounters with cages this weekend, I am looking myself !!!

I have been riding for decades, but only have a few hundred thousand miles because most of my riding was/is in big city traffic. My horns have 'saved my bacon' countless times and most of that was on metrics with "beep beep" horns. I would hate to ride without one.

It stands to reason that a louder horn would be even better.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it...

A louder horn cannot be a bad thing, just like you (almost) can't have too many lights on your bike. I swapped the OEM horn for a Mini-Beast and am thinking I may want to go louder, as I do some freeway riding to/from work.

On this note, does anyone have an inexpensive way to have a loud(er) horn?

I am going to buy this new HD horn, that fits in the pre-13 stock horn cover, and is 5 db louder, which on another thread was said to be twice as loud.

The factory horn and most horns of that type are adjustable. I thought mine was dying until I adjusted it and now it's louder than original. There is a screw on the backside covered with black silicone. Cut off the silicone with a knife and turn the screw while holding down the horn button. You will be surprised.
