Default Over 17K on original tires

Is it unusual to get this amount of mileage from the original tires?

Not if you maintain the tire pressure and ride conservatively. I had an 08 Roadster with just over 8K on them at trade in, there was still plenty of depth left.

Maybe if you only ride in the snow and weigh 50 lbs.

Seriously, very impressive.

Most of the miles are riding two up and not on the highway. Not sure if that makes a difference but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

I typically put rear on before "have" to due to timing of big trips ( I.e. if leaving on 6k mile trip and have over 10k on tire will swap it.). I pulled a tire off with 14k and still looked good. My front will often be changed every other rear. 40psi in rear and no burnouts.

The rear Dunlop American Elite has the same multi-tread compound as the Dunlop D407T. You may want to consider the American Elite as a replacement for the OEM tire. By the way, I got close to 18,000 miles on the D407T rear tire with 3/32 left on the tread! The American Elite should provide you with equal or better tread life imho

Got 21k out of my stock front. Just over 15 on my rear. Check my pressure constantly. Not that it ever really lost any air.

Agreed. These tires are 20K tires if you keep air in them. I do 41/41.

20k on the rear tire, replaced with stock tire. Still have original front tire at just over 23k....almost time to replace though. I keep 'em aired up and ride pretty conservatively.
