All I can say is good for you . Life is short ride what makes you feel good .
I have owned 2 Sportsters 5 wide glides and now one Street Glide . The first week I was sick really thought I made a mistake . Now I am on my fourth week and love the SG .
i am stunned at the prices on street glides. 27 to 29k. no thanks. ill just take off my tour pack and put on 12 in shocks. Although if i hit the lottery or was super successful, id go for it

Apparently, dealers are all over the place when it comes to wanting to sell bikes. I stopped at a popular dealer here in N Illinois looking at a 14 limited. They were ridiculously low on the trade value for my 08 EGC (I understand wholesale values and know what is reasonable) and wanted 2.5K over MSRP on the new bike...then proceeded to quote me a $500 monthly payment on the difference.
I laughed and walked away. They had a dozen limiteds sitting on the floor and I was the only one there on a Saturday looking at a new bike.
Had they been reasonable from the start I would have given it serious consideration and engaged in negotiations. Good luck with your search.
Would have been cheaper to make the Ultra a "street glide"... Unless you're ab.so.lute.ly in love with the wheels and tires.
For me, it was better stance, better seat position, lowered, went from 4" to 6" screen, got gps, finished inner fairing, a lot lighter ride.....plus I got rid of the extra stuff I not only didn't need, but hated looking at. Lastly, my wife is quite small and the huge back seat (even when I switched to the sundowner) gave her the choice of riding up near me and be 18" from the back rest or back there in another county.
Other than money, I didn't give up anything....maybe rear speakers, but that's it. It's not the most expensive bad decison I've made or will make and I'm glad to have done it today. See you guys on the road and have a great night.
