Default Ever bought a Touring bike only to regret it later?

I currently own a 2003 Sporty and drive about 20 miles a day to work and back. Have done some other riding to run errands and such but haven't exactly gone for the three hour trek just yet. I bought the bike used from my nephew last year with the idea that if I enjoyed riding I could "move up" and get something else.

Well, I got that itch! And I got it bad! I and am considering either a SG Special or the Limited.

I'm just wondering if that would be a good or bad decision? Has anyone else bought a big touring bike and later realized they had made a mistake and should have stayed with a smaller bike?

I'm sure with a bigger bike I would likely ride much more but I don't want to get into that payment and then think, "WTH did I do that for?"

Will likely do a week's rental and see how that goes.

Thanks for the replies.

I went from Softail to touring bike. I found myself doing longer trips 400+ miles a day and it was too much for smaller bike. No regrets but If I had bigger garage I'd have both Tourer & Local bar hop bike.....maybe someday

Well, nobody ever said, "Damn - I sure wish I'd paid more for this bike!"

Heck no. In fact, I often wondered why I didn't 'step up' sooner. While you never seem to forget your 1st Harley (FXDWG, in my case), I can't honestly say I'd go back. Make the move. You won't regret it.

I sure miss my old Heritage....

But I have no regrets, other than I can't afford to keep every Harley I ever owned.

I've never regretted buying any of my touring bikes. I have however, regretted selling them.

I have both... see my sig pic. However, the FXDL is for sale. I thought I'd want to ride them both, but since I went to the Road King, the Low Rider doesn't get its proper amount of time out of the garage, so I have decided to sell it... so my answer to your original question would be "No"

Migrated from Sportster to Street Glide in 2009...bought another Sportster as 2nd bike in 2013. Nice having the best of both worlds, IMO.
