Default Need help deciding

Traded my 2016 Ultra Limited for 2017 Tri Glide. The 2016 had cat delete head pipes, slip ons, air and FP3. It ran like a champ but hip problems put me into the Tri Glide. Going to Sturgis again this year and have to decide what to do with the M8. New motor might need warranty work some day. This is my 6th Harley and none of them have ever been to the dealer for warranty work so do I take the chance and put all the goodies on it or just slip-ons for now and air and FP3 later. If I need warranty work I could put stock air on and remove the FP3 after putting it back to stock. This setup would leave the cat on, how much of a difference would this be over true duels? thanks

Your 2016 exhaust system will not fit your 2017 TG. Don't think the 2016 air cleaner will, either.
Ask Kevin with DK Custom whether the FP3 will work or not.

If the heat isn't bothering you, replace just the mufflers. Look at DK Custom for a new air cleaner with external breather.

I guess just a silly question but why not just ride the trike for a while and see what you might really want to change ?? I know after 46 yrs of owning motorcycles I've lost track of how much I've spent on exhaust, suspension, chrome etc etc. And lets not forget the new model is coming out and it is SO much better! Thank you HD marketing…you are very good at your job.
Anymore as with my Freewheeler I bought last year. Purchased a nice seat,Mustang touring works great and a cup holder.LOL. Don't like my butt to be uncomfortable and I like a cold drink. I'm willing to bet just riding for a while you'll find out that Tri Glide is a very nice bike and you might just save a lot of money…more for gas and motels !
Ride safe and travel far.Just my opinion.

You are right with the 5 other Harleys I always loaded them up with exhaust, air and tuners but this M8 is a different story it runs great.

The M8 is definitely better OEM than the 07+ Twin Cams. We were very surprised when we put a sniffer up the exhaust of a stock M8...not nearly as lean as later year TC's.

But, with a few inexpensive mods it can be so much better!

Here is a REPORT on our M8 findings.

The chart below shows the improvement over stock when add one of our air cleaners and a basic tune.
