Anyone install a back rest on their TG? BOUGHT factory mount and wonder about install

Default Anyone install a back rest on their TG? BOUGHT factory mount and wonder about install

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I installed the HD backrest on my 2014 TG. That was 3 years ago but I don't remember any particular problems.


I do recall the process was rather tedious but the written instructions were complete and I followed them methodically.


Read the instructions, make sure you understand what the step entails, work slowly. Only common tools were required, average mechanical aptitude should do the job.

I have the non adjustable back rest on my 2016; Harley said it wouldn't fit but it did with no problems

I have the HD adjustable on the fly. First accessory I got 5 yrs ago when TG was new. Has been worth every penny, uh dollars!

I believe it is installed properly. Now I just have to wait to be able to afford a back rest. Is that seat protector piece of tape important?

I use the non adjustable that I bought for my SGS it's a easy install, check out the videos on YouTube

I applied the tape in the area indicated. I suppose it does keep the metal parts from rubbing a hole in the seat. However, mine only "half-stuck". It is very thick/rigid tape. Half of it has worked itself away from the seat. Fortunately it is below the level of the top of the seat and doesn't bother the passenger.
