Default Key Fob

Just a little FYI.
went to a Blue Knight Conference this past weekend. Started bike in garage and all was fine. First stop for fuel about 130 miles later and trike would recognize my fob, had to put in PIN number to start it. Changed batter and still nothing.
rode to Danville VA from Kentucky having to use PIN number. Stop at Thunder Road HD and they also replaced the battery in the FOB, no dice. Pulled trike into shop, hooked up to the computer and it reset the FOB. All was good after that, worked all weekend and home....so if yours fails this is something to check...

That's a good reminder to make sure you know your pin and that it works. Would've been a bad thing to find out you didn't remember the right pin.

Not only to know your pin, but how to enter it. Just replaced my fob battery after no response, thought it would be a good time to learn how to start it with the pin in case of emergency.

I try to remember to start it with the PIN at least once a year so I don't forget how to do it and to make sure it works as advertised. I also carry a spare battery for the key fob in the tour pack. So far so good.

Default Extra Fob

I'm not sure about anyone else here but I take the fob issue one step further. In case my currently used fob and key gets lost or stops working for any reason besides battery failure I keep my second fob (with extra key) with the battery loaded upside down somewhere on the bike (not in a locked compartment). This comes in handy if the fob and key are lost or misplaced.

I would be leary of putting a battery in upside down. Reversing the polarity may not be a good thing. Tape the battery to the fob on the outside.
Just my concern.

I'll pull the spare fob out, turn the battery back over and see if fob still works. It's been about 3 years since I stashed it with battery upside down. Update coming soon.

Well, I did finally get around to flipping the battery over in my spare fob and it armed and disarmed the security system as it should. I repeat that the battery had been in the fob upside down for about 3 years.

I know my PIN number but have never had to use it. Guess I need to get my owners manual out of the trunk and do some reading.
