Theory: why new Trikes foul the plugs, blow smoke, and stop running?

I have been touring and riding motorcycles for 40 years and have logged 350,000 miles touring this great land of ours and have broken in a few motorcycles in my day and have NEVER broken down because of a failed engine or transmission issue, period.
To put it simple and in plain English, I follow the manufacturers guidelines and what my mechanic recommends and have never had any issues. What has always amazed me is the ones I have helped on the side of the road with major mechanical issues have always had a common theme.
They don’t maintain their machines, ride them until they break and always blame the manufacturer because of their stupidity. I prefer the better road, perform regular maintenance, don’t run them hard and read the Owners manual, they are provided with the machine for a reason, just my two cents.

I found a great Youtube video on breaking in an engine. I'm about to break in an engine that is being replaced under warranty.
My big take away is this. The piston and the cylinder walls, and some other friends all need to be introduced properly. If not done properly, the bike can be FUBAR for the life of the engine.
Also, the dude on the right is the clear brains of the operation. Very eloquent and verbose.
