FWIW--

When I recently took a trip and when I returned home I checked the oil on my bike at least three times and determined that it was bit low which was unusual for my bike at that amount of mileage.

I added 6ozs. to 8 ozs. and brought it to a level where I was sure it was full.

I just checked my bill for the last service that my dealer performed on my bike and I discovered that I was billed for 4 qts. of non-synthetic motor oil and one quart of Formula (primary) oil.

At this point I'm convinced that had they filled my bike with SYN-3 (motor and primary) my oil level would have not been low.

Additionally, I'm upset with the dealer because they should have know that the SE 110 engines are shipped with SYN-3 and when they've serviced y bike in the past they did the job properly.

That really sucks that the dealer used the wrong oil. You should go back to the dealer and make them replace your bikes fluid.

After making my original post I calmed down and pulled the actual records and the tech's worksheet and discovered that he had indeed used SYN-3 in my bike.

I was so thankful and relieved!

Perhaps this will teach me to check my bills thoroughly before leaving the shop in the future.

Now I'm wondering why my oil level appeared to be low or if I may have misread the dipstick and added to much.
Oh well, I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Well now you know how much oil you have, start monitoring your oil consumption. I am glad everything was okay with the invoice.

I previously had one of the digital, thermometer style dipsticks until it died.

They're not cheap but I think I may have to invest in another one.

With my Rinehart XT True Duals, checking the oil while the engine is hot is a risky proposition!

You are correct, they are not cheap ($150) for the M8.
