Hi all and Happy Holiday's.
I'm new to this so here goes. I want to buy a new 2019 Tri Glide/Trike. I refuse to continue to have my leg burned off. My question is do I buy from a dealer in my state (Calif) or do I look out of state and does it matter.
Thank you in advance,
What's burning your leg off? I assume that you're referring to the catalytic converter??
Hi Kwkride,
You can assume correctly. If I wear chaps all is good but that only happens on long trips. Just buzzing around town and it is a killer. I've pretty much have had it. One can only have so much love and devotion. I've had my Trike since 2009 and I think it's time to move on but not without some heart ache. I also need more power it's terrible trying to pass those big trucks.
It's been a very long time since I have had to buy a new Bike. I know I need to go in with my own financing. I'm not the wheeler dealer type I am more the "this is how much I have". I did send out a couple of emails and did get some responses. I was asking about the 2019 and they want to sell me a 2020 for the price of a 2019. Is Harley hurting that bad or do I have no chance of getting a good deal.
Thanks for reading and Happy Safe Holidays!
I wish I had done some research on the Tri Glide before I purchased mine.
Let me be the first to post my reaction to the second year of production of the Harley Tri Glide.
2010 being the year that the EPA Standards become more stringent than even prior years for motorcycles HD felt the only way they could meet the new Emission Standard was to stick a catalytic converter in the headpipe on top of the EPA Cams and the lean AFR they were already using to appease the EPA.
The result was a hot underpowered mickey mouse imitation of what a Harley Davidson should be. I understand now why few were available for testing and you had to order them sight unseen. I have been out over $1000 dollars to resolve the heat issue and it will take over another $1000 to resolve the performance problem this winter when I tear into it.
I understand they have come up with a Trans gear change in an effort to improve the off the line sluggishness and a mediocre 6th gear on the 2011 model.
In short I would not have bought this constipated oven for $10,000 off the sticker if I had known it would have been such a dog.
Where are you located? For the right price I will take it off your hands?
Doug
Just sold my 2010 Ultra Classic and looking for a 2009-1010 Trike. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE! But at 70 years old I thought it was time to sell and look for a trike.
Enjoy the rides!

Hi Doug,
Wow, I just sold my Trike two weeks ago to a friend who has been drooling over it since I bought it. Anyway, I am sure you'll find what your looking for.
Bought my 2012 Tri Glide (9k miles) earlier this month at an estate auction. I was the only bidder. Paid only 13k. The steering effort takes some getting used to. You’ll also feel engine heat on the right side. Some owners remove the catalytic from the head pipes, but I’m keeping mine stock.

Geoff,
Nice looking bike, I like the blue, congrats!
Here is a pic of what a cat looks like inside a head pipe. Wow was my first impression, no wonder it gets so hot. The EPA doesn’t care about us!!
