I run 50 lbs. all the time. The valve is right behind the right side side cover. This is all explained in the owners manuel, if you don`t have one get one.
As Tri Glide said its behind the right cover. Make sure you invest in the correct air pump for it from the dealer, don't use the air compressor unless you desire some new shocks. You will have to experiment with how much pressure you like, I use 45 in mine and I'm no light weight.
Michele and I got in a local "around the corner" ride Sunday. I pulled over after bottoming out ... was running 35 lbs ... bumped it up to 50. Michele could not believe the difference in the ride. I use the BushTec air pump that I got when I purchased the trailer.

I have a bicycle handpump with built-in guage that I use for my 18-speed bike. Will that do to pump up the shocks?

It will do as far as not having too much pressure for fear of blowing them up. What the HD pump does is you can attach and detach it and not loose any pressure.
I had a Lehman Kit on a 08 Ultra and ran 36 lbs in it. Just got my 11 TriGlide and noticed most here run higher air pressure. Is there a difference between them?
