We had one where the main housing of the reverse motor broke. Replaced it with a new one from Harley ($$$). The old motor is down at the starter shop getting rebuilt.
Holy Mackerel! Some of these numbers are scary and quite frankly obscene. $1300.00 for a small starter motor and on another post a guy says it cost him $1,800.00 for a brake job. The starter motor on a Rolls Royce isn't $1,300.00. Harleys are low tech. There's nothing terribly sophisticated on any of them to justify those kinds of prices. When mine go out I guess I'll be looking for an old school starter/alternator shop that rebuilds starter motors.

The extended warranty cost me a grand. $1000 divided by 5 is $200 a year. Cheap insurance. So far the extended warranty paid for a new radio, which paid for the warranty.

Does that five years include the factory two year warranty? The purveyors of extended warranty's always like to say someone is getting a five year warranty when it's really only three. The first two years are included in the sales price.
