When I purchased my extended waranty I bought an extra 2 years so I have a total of 4 years.

Right. So if you paid $1000 for the warranty your cost is $1000 divided by two, not $1000 divided by four. You bought a two year warranty.

You are correct. It figures out to be $500 per year for the coverage. So far I have recovered about $650 back.
