Oki know our bikes make noise, but my new 2016 110 with only 700 miles seems like its making quite a bit of valve clatter, wrapping, tapping etc. will mention it to them when it goes in for it's one and only service at the dealer. Will do the rest myself. Just curious if its a trait of that motor?
Thanks
Aren't the 110s known for weak lifters that fail and wipe out the motor. Ask uklauren I think her 110 just blew up. Harley should of stuck with 103s as the 110s have some issues that can be a major problems.

Hold on now, you did test drive more than one bike, right ? A carryover CVO 2016 ? If it tapped on the test ride, then I would have kept testing other bikes. If it developed a noise in only 700 miles (you put those miles on in break in I assume here), that is certainly different. Lifters aren't going to fail that fast.
The lightly used CVO 110s I ride at the dealer are pretty quiet. I have a 2011 103 with 40K miles now, with rockouts. It taps more than a low mile twinky 110 for sure but even then it is not bad. I have 255s and new C lifters.

yes my engine took a nose dive, lifter and cam came apart. 2016 Fat Boy S with 25,000 miles. It's sitting at Rossmeyers 250 miles from home waiting for the go ahead for a replacement engine.
CRAPPY "C" LIFTERS ("B" lifter were better, but I wouldn't trust my life to SE Lifters) and too STRONG VALVE SPRINGS are the root cause of havoc in those 110" motors.
Open air filter like the Ventalator, any other exposed air filter will make more noise.
Aftermarket lifters (S&S, GMR, WOODS, ETC) and AV&V Beehive valve springs MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!
