Tires
Ok, we bought the TriGlide last week. I'm new to it. The shop manual isn't in yet, so I ain't touching it till it gets here. I was looking at the tires on it. Dunlops all the way around. I have never liked Dunlops. Wouldn't put them on my yard tractor. The front tire has a helluva lot of weights on it to balance it, seven to be exact, and the rear has more than I like, 4 on the left, 5 on the right. I'm going to switch them for Michelins all around. Any comments?

My wife has 54,000 on the rear dunlops on her tri glide. Never had an issue. I don't see one tire doing any better than another on the rear. The front, just remember you are running on the center of the tread and the tire will wear faster than a two wheeler due to the friction during aggressive cornering.

You obviously have money to burn. If you want Michelins, go for it. I see you have an 08 PowerStroke. How's that pos working out for ya?

Just have to consider the source.
As far as the tires go, the wife's trike has had no problems with the Dunlops, especially on the rear, but we replaced the front Dunlop with a Michelin Commander II at 15,000. It still had pretty good tread, but we were taking a 6,000 mile trip and didn't want to have to make a change on the road.
I have the Commanders on my Limited and already have 15,000 on the rear with 5/32" tread left, and they handle better than the Dunlops.

I run michelins on my Flh and I think they handle so much better than any of the rest. I priced the rear tires and they are actually fairly cheap. The real concerns are the rears are originals and are over four years old, and the bike obviously sat in the previous owners garage a lot. Thanks for the qualified opinions.

The rear tires on any trike will last quite a long time, no weight on them...
The fronts can wear a lot faster, but I've had very good luck with the Dunlops on the front.
I know a lot of wing trike riders go with a sport touring rear bias ply tire on the front of their wings, most mount them in reverse...

I too Am not a Dunlop fan. The rear signatures got terrible reviews ln tire websites. I swapped them for Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S before I took delivery. Don't know how the Dulops would have done, but the Michelins run true and straight and corner and handle great.
I kept the Dunlop on the the front. Now with 7,000 miles I'm swapping it with a Michelin Commander II.
