That's a lot of smoke for a brand new 2017 M8, and it's in every video. Is it the tune?

 

Yes and thank you for asking. When these came out and we did videos, two things played a major factor. 1.) There was no tuning device out there yet for these bikes. 2.) HD puts a cold start function in the base maps. Long story short it was really cold here in NE and when you start a bike in cold weather the engine revs higher at idle and throws more fuel to help protect your engine so when you really get on it quick like in the video it blows smoke. I will be posting a video soon of what happens when it is tuned correctly and the engine temp gets over 200F. That is about when the idle changes back to standard idle and the AFR drops back to a range that will not have smoke at all.
