Thumbs up Okay, I promised!

I promised to post my dyno results after "baiting" the V-Rodders last week with "Sporties vs V's". My last day of Buell class, I rejetted my main jet by drilling it out to a .070" diameter, set float bowl level, and cleaned it all out well. Also put my damned jet needle guide in upside down but that's another thread (I wasn't wearing my glasses, okay?)! I ran my '01 XL1200c through the dyno Tuesday and got good results. I have an SE air cleaner w/ crank breather and Drag Specialty drag pipes and have done some "backyard-mods" with the carb diaphram, air flow, and jet needle. My best 4th gear roll-on was a 68.61 Hp with 69.92 torque at top speed of 97 MPH at 5,500 RPM. My AFR was great until the very last when it went lean and I made my slide too fast because I cut off an extra inch of spring in the Buell class (shoulda left it alone!). My 70 MPH "dead zone" is gone and it doesn't vibrate as much at that speed so I'm a happy camper. Not "exactly" V-Rod numbers but I think it did pretty good considering my drag pipes on a basically stock bike and a cam-modified Softail ran 66 HP (+ my lines are better) but still standing by for V-Rodders "na-na-na-na-na-na's" LOL! It has inspired me to later plunk down for better heads and valves, cams, and pistons in the future (approximately $2500 in parts) after I get done with school. Or just trade it in for the Muscle! Side note: we also ran a Schwinn Sting Ray and got 2.4 HP pedalling by our class "fat guy" and four tie-down straps to secure it. Dyno's are fuuuunnnnn!

...gonna use Buell parts? What about parts of that XR1200... seems like the options are wide open if you have the know-how.

I rode one 100hp sporty, that started it's life as an 883... and about 10k later was a rocket... it was great.

Good luck!

Pretty fair numbers, Robz. I'm with Monk. I'd go for any Beull performance parts that fit. Then again, I don't know how far away from the Sporty engine Buell is getting these days.
