New in many ways!
Hello,
I am new to the forum, and new to motorcycling. I have been approved for a loan on pretty much any Harley and was wondering what folks here thought would work out as a first bike.
I am in my fifties, good pyhisical condition, about 5'8" 185lbs .....passed the MSF class, and have no other expieriance on two wheels other than mountain biking....and thats the type with pedals!
I want to eventually take my wife with me on rides. We love the look of the Softail Custom, sort of the 70's Chopper look and I love the look and feel of the 1200 Sportser Custom. I was told that bikes like the Fat Boy because of the wide front tire are better on the hiway due to the lines they cut into the road, and that that type of bike is better balanced and eaier to handle. I dont like the look of the full dress bikes as much and would prefer to keep it simple. One that looked interesting was the Dyna Super GLide Custom. So.....any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum from the coast of Washington State. Sounds like you've already got a bike picked out. Any HD is a pretty big bike for a "starting out" biker. I would think something smaller would be better until you get some experience. Some others might say I'm wrong, but a HD is pretty tough to pick up off the pavement. Thrash a metric for a year than get a HD

Welcome to the forums from Festus, MO. Sportsters are fun bikes, I had one, but they aren't much for 2-up. Tima has a good point you may want to think about. When the wife starts riding, she better be comfy, or you'll sure be hearing about it. Do a lot of sitting on bikes with your wife and maybe rent a few.
