Default Intro and Question

Hello Everyone-

I'm currently serving in Afghanistan, but I'm from Virginia. I have been riding for a couple of years with a "starter" bike a 2001 Honda Shadow ACE 750. I sold it before deployment and I have been thinking about getting back into it when I return. Now for the question. the military has a program to buy HD at a discount rate. I have really been looking at the HD Fatboy or FB Lo. The price they have qouted me is $16,150 before taxes for the Fatboy Lo Black Denim. Is this a good price?? Could I do better by getting one that is used. Any throughts would be great!!

Will

You can get a lot of bike in this economy for that kind of money without going new. It's a buyers market right now in the states. Welcome to the forum and be safe out there.

Welcome... Thanks for serving... Pricing seems to really depend on where you live. With a used bike you can get some of the stuff you want already on the bike for a lower price... New is new and no one road it but u. Really it is a personal choice. I personally got a lower interest rate buying new, but dont know anything about the military discount. Be Safe...

Greetings from NE & a fellow military troop (retired). I know AAFES has decent deals through their overseas purchase plan, but you might want to hold off & wait until you return stateside. If you're still fairly new to riding - best to try a few bikes out for size. Not saying the FB wouldn't work - HD's have various bike comfort levels & you might be better suited for different model. It's definitely a buyers market to the deals are just as good. Hate to see you dump $16K into a bike & then have regrets later.

Thanks for Ur service..

Its just like buying a cager.. new, or used??

I prefer to buy new and have a warranty and know what the bikes been through.

But,,, there's a lot of used bike for sale if U look long enough to find one, U may have to travel to get one.
I've read in here that some have got great deals, but here in our town in our paper I've never seen that good of a deal like some are saying they got.

Welcome to the Forum and safe riding when we finally get to..
From Indiana

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for your service. I agree with the other posts. At the dealer in my area they have way more used bikes than new ones and they are willing to deal on all of them. Get a used bike, see what you like and don't before you pay up far a new one.
