Another new guy
Wanted to say hi. I've been reading for a while and think this site is cool. People helping each other with hints and great input to help understand and work out issues.
I am a recently retired aluminum worker who wanted a HD most of my adult life and never really seemed to get it. Well, my ship came in 2 weeks ago.
I got a 2010 FXDC, Black (and love it) and am rapidly spending lots of money on windshields and engine guard with pegs and just bought a small sissy bar bag. I will plan my next up-grade as soon as the wife stops looking...Ha. Seriously this bike is nice and I will love getting back into riding.
Hey, I did manage to pick-up on something that the SuperGlide riders mention. When the windshield is installed the headlight is pretty far behind it and this causes some nighttime issues with glare. I happens to me..so..
I made a spacer block out of 6061 Alum. cast plate and spaced the headlight out an additional 1 9/16 inches and matched the angle of the bottom triple tree. That keeps the headlight centered, like the stock location was. That works pretty good now. I will send a photo or two if you guys are interested. (I installed without polishing, but will polish it) One photo shows the stock headlight mount and the other is mine. Nothice how the headlight is now in front of the windshield. Should work........but I didn't ride it yet, like that, but it should be fine.
