Intro
P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; } Hi all, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tony and I live in Phuket, Thailand.
I have been a member for a while but refrained from this until I had the bike somewhere close to where I wanted it. It took longer than I thought, partly due to my working overseas on an oil rig and partly because when I come home I want to ride it not work on it haha.........
The bike.....
A 2004 Night Train so far I have fitted :
A LeNale cooling fan (I think HD do one now too probably a better choice, I had the fan burn out and had to replace it, got no support from LeNale).
Ultra Cool oil cooler (good stuff, they couldn't be more helpful, I had a problem with the mounting bracket and they sent me a custom one that worked, they paid shipping all the way to Thailand).
Shotgun Shock (I have a VERY comfortable seat, but short legs, air adjustable shocks make life easy).
Screamin' Eagle 6 speed gearbox (one of the best things I did, better economy and less vibration at higher speeds on long trips).
Screamin' Eagle Deuce forks with dual front discs (dual discs should be standard, less pressure, pads last longer pulls up quicker).
Larger front master cylinder (for dual front brakes)
“Reaper” brake rotors (bling haha).
Display stand (makes it easy to remove the rear wheel on the road if you get a flat)
Changed the rear wheel to a laced one (I just like “old school”).
GPS tracker (has a SIM card and works like a phone, call the number it sends an SMS with all the details. It can be used to immobilise the bike too but I'm still working on that. I am hoping I can use the HD security system I still have to install).
Dakota Digital speedo
2011 Blackline exhaust with Screamin' Eagle slip ons (black) and Thunder Baffles
O2 sensors
Wider rear guard (fender) with LED tail light
Custom laced front wheel (21”) for the dual disc set up
Outer wheel rims have been powder coated black
Billet gear and brake levers and a billet gear change link
HD “Flames” collection pegs, grips and dash covers
“Flames” Derby cover redone in “wrinkle black”
“Flames” indicator lenses.
Kuriyakin “Pro” Hypercharger air intake
“Intiminators” in the forks
Garmin Nuvi 500 GPS
Odyssey gel cell battery
Still to do :
Swap out ECM for O2 sensors (I can then use the “V” Tune with my TTS software to tune the bike. There are no Dyno's where I live)
Wide band O2 sensors (got to be done after the tuning, then this will complete the final tune)
Alarm unit and siren.
Repaint, and I want to change the tank emblems to the same as the “Night Line”. But you can't buy them (apparently) so I will have to have some made. Hehe, Thailand and copying....
Things I discovered “the hard way” :
2004 frames are narrower than 2006 on (made swapping the rear fender, to accommodate a wider rear wheel and the LED tail light awkward).
Legend shocks are rubbish (IMO).
LED head lights are good but VERY susceptible to vibration shaking the light (which appears in “bars” across the road)up and down. I found it annoying.
Many fork braces won't fit “Screamin' Eagle Deuce” forks due to the shape of the top fork lids.
Had a problem (can't remember exactly what now it was a while ago) fitting “progressive springs” to the forks. I think they seemed too long. This may have been partly due to the “Intiminators”.
HD DON'T make a 21” laced wheel with dual discs....
Keep the "shiny side up" and stay safe,
Tony

The BIG question is where to go from here?
Once the tuning is done, that's about it, and a man has to have a project!!!
Bigger motor, maybe a 120R?
Turbo charger, (www.HDBlower.com)
I don't know what pitfalls will be encountered, but hey that's half the fun !!! If everything went according to plan life would be pretty boring !!! The sense of achievement comes from making it work !!!
Any suggestions?
Any advice?
Hehe, it's only money haha, better than spending it ALL on booze and Thai hookers........

Thanks man, it's had it's frustrations but it's good to win at the end !!! (Well almost win, it's not quite finished yet. It will be interesting to see how the performance changes with the new ECM and wide band O2 sensors). Another experiment is about to commence.....
