Default Mixing tires

Ok so I need a new skin for the rear of an 04 Road King custom. It has D402's front and rear now. What is your opinion on going with a new Dunlop American Elite on the rear and leaving the 402 on the front till it needs replacing?

Thank you Mr Mike. I was hoping and thinking so. Been riding for years and have never mixed tires before. Things are a little right right now so I was hoping I could get away with just one good tire this go round.

For what its worth, if the front is old, sat through many seasons (cold/hot/exposed to sun) you may want to change it even if the tread looks good. Dry rot or not rubber still ages and traction and flex will suffer. You be the judge.

Bias AE on the rear with bias on the front, it will be fine.

It will probably be fine. I have had a couple of mixed combinations that didn't handle well together, but the solution is to swap the older tyre for the same brand as the new one.
