Default Shinko Tires

Looking to change both my tires on my Road King. A buddy has suggested me trying out Shinko 777's

I have checked online and the prices are great and from what I can see they are the old Yokohama's. However I have read mixed reports about wear rate, I will be be doing two roadtrips with these tires totalling nearly 10,000 miles and want to be sure they will hold up ( 2up with luggage).

Have any of you guys had any experience with this brand, comments good or bad please.

painey, I just installed the 777 front and rear. I ride a little hard, and only got 6-7k out of my last rear which was the Shinko F250. The 250 was a very noisy tire, whereas the new 777's are very quiet.
Shinko guy said the 777 was a softer tire than the 250, but It's still a bit on the winter and rainy side here, and these are sticky in the rain as well. I don't suspect I will get 4 to 5k on the rear 777. and slightly higher on the front. Needless to say it will not take long to wear them out, so I will post millage on these tires on this thread within a couple of months.
I have to say that if the road conditions are cold and nasty, either of these tires will not let go on the slickest of roadways. I think their 230 tourmaster might be their long lasting heavy tourer. I'm going to try a set of those for summer. I will E mail the shinko guy and ask about wear on the 230's.
So, I believe their is only hope of making half of your described trip on one back tire. the front might make it however. They are rated at 805lbs. max. @42psi
My 0.03
Any more questions post em and I'll check back

I used SHinko on a small bike i had...On my bike i will not...load rating isn't good enough...rather pay a bit more and get a EIII or Michelin Commander II and get over 10000 miles and has the correct load rating...
My $.02... Shinko worked good on my Yamaha.

You couldn't pay me to run those tires. Remember your life and the life of anyone that rides with you depend on it.

I never had Shinkos on any of my Harleys but I do run them on my Kawasaki ZX-14 and I absolutely love them. They are soft and super sticky. Both for dragging and for carving. Along with that, they do wear pretty fast, but all softer tires do. I also looked at the price at first and thought no way. But then I rode a bike that had them on and was really impressed, so I bought both front and rear, 003 ultra's. I have a little over 5,500 on them and still have a little tread left befor I hit wear bands on my rocket. I couldn't for the life of me see why you couldn't get MORE than double that on touring tires riding easy. I like Shinkos.

I'm sold on Elite III's, but why don't you give em a try, and let us all know what you think, and what kind of mileage you actually get.

I ran a Shinko Raven on my last Kawasaki. It lasted around 6k miles, was quiet and worked well in the wet. Thinking I paid about $70 for it on ebay. It was quite the tire bargain .....

I've worn a set of F 250's out and now have a few hundred on the new 777. These do stick like glue, handle great and are very quiet and I know long life is not their forte. I'll likely run another set next winter as I do ride all winter.
Come back soon and I'll have posted the final millage I achieved out of the front and rear. My guess is 4k on the back and maybe 2k more on the front.
I have had Metzeler's skate on me on wet streets, and that's not desirable. I like them on dry roads in the summer however. So, it's either Metz for the summer or try Shinko's Tourmaster 230 for a small fraction of the cost of Metz.

Hey if you can get 6-7000 miles on a rear and they grip good, hell that's the same as a Avon, Metzeller or Pirelli night dragon...6000 miles is all i could muster out of the Avon Venoms or the Pirelli Night dragons...Shinko isn't a Unsafe tire....i have not heard of anybody having major failure on them...
