Default ABS vs non ABS

I have a 2010 with no ABS and I'm considering buying used 2016 ABS wheels from another forum member. I understand why ABS bikes need ABS bearings, but is there any reason why the ABS bearings won't work on a non-ABS bike? Will I need to change bearings anyway for axle size or spacing difference from 2010 - 2016? Thanks much!

It will work perfectly well, although I believe you may need a different spacer on the ABS side of each wheel. An alternative is to swap the bearings, although that may also require a new spacer (between them). This subject has popped up before, so there are other threads about it, also over in the Touring section.

I ordered a 3mm smaller spacer for the ABS bearing side on ebay and left the new ABS bearing in worked great.

The only difference in the abs bearing I know of is the olive green seal which is used for the wheel speed sensor. So I’m assuming an abs bearing will work for a non abs bike but a regular bearing will not work in an abs bike or a abs fault code will appear for no wss voltage.
