Default Non ABS to ABS

Changing a Non ABS wheel set up to ABS. I know the ABS bearing is thicker than the non ABS bearing and am assuming there is a bearing shim under the non abs. Does anyone know if I would have to change the crush tube or not? Not interested in buying the 79$ wheel install kit from MoCo for a few parts and throw the rest away.

If you’re talking about the sleeve spacer that goes through the wheel, they are the same between the ABS and non ABS.

Thanks Dawg. Am I right to assume there is a bearing shim under the non abs bearing that I would not use?

No, the ABS bearing is the same size as the non-ABS bearing.

While the outside diameter of both bearings is the same I am 100% certain the ABS bearing is thicker/wider than non ABS bearings.

Cycles that have ABS have the sensor between the wheel and the fork. Cycles that do not have ABS have a spacer there. The spacer is as big as the sensor and also makes up for the difference in the bearings.

Well hell, Now I will have to pop bearing out of original wheel to see. While I get the whole spacer/sensor detail, what I don't get is if the abs bearing is 3 mm thicker/wider than a non abs it would certainly not let me get the spacer/sensor in place. The non abs bearing is going to sit deeper in the wheel than a abs bearing because it is 3 mm less thickness while the abs bearing would sit 3 mm higher in the wheel making the sensor/spacer useless. Be damned if I can find anything in the manual on this.

OP, this is your answer.... ^

Not sure what you're confused about...

In pic below, ABS or non-ABS, #13 is the same.

ABS has bearing #4 with an ABS sensor (#28 or #29).

Non-ABS have bearing #5 with a spacer #14.......

Why are there tons and tons of threads saying the bearing needs to be replaced if not a diff spacer needs to be installed.. If it's as easy as unbolting the non abs rim and installing the abs rim without changin anything at all why is there all the confusion and or inaccurate info?
