I feel pretty certain that you know the answer....
When did they stop using the bearing shim on the non abs bikes and what changed?
Well ... they didn't really "Stop using" or even "Start using" for that matter unless you want to consider the ONLY ONE Year and the ONLY ONE Model Line they were used on for normal production ...
Then the answer would be 2008 Touring ... Start/Stop (except for a few special applications on Specific other models, that's it)
Bearing Shims have NOTHING to do with the bearings being ABS or Not
Simply Put ... H-D Bearings Shims (and made in model specific Thicknesses) were Made/Used to allow the 15mm Std and 18mm ABS width bearings (with 25mm ID) to be used in a wheel designed for the earlier 21mm wide bearings (with 3/4" / 1" ID) ... (along with the Correct Year/Model "25mm" Center spacer sleeve of course)
Here's your exercise ... apply that statement above to the 2008 Touring Models
I knew I had seen them on the 08 touring models as I had one but it was ABS. Friend of mine has a non ABS 08 model which is where I saw them for the first time. Wasn't aware they were only used on the 08's though. Thanks for the clarification.
