Unhappy 2006 Dyna Rear Brake Pads

The brake pads on my 2006 Dyna have fallen apart. The pad has come away from the housing when the wheel was removed to change a puncture.
Having purchased replacement pads I was wondering how to remove the pad pins from the caliper. Is a specialist tool required or can I use an everyday spanner / socket? If an everyday tool, what size do I need to remove the pad pin (imperial or metric?).
